Congrats Ross & Ashley!

Last night, my brother-in-law Ross asked his girlfriend Ashley to marry him. Of course she said yes - so another wedding to plan!

Here's how it went down:

Wednesday he texted me asking me if I could do him a favor. I found out he wanted me to go out to PetSmart to buy a dog tag that said "Will You Marry Me" on it for their new puppy (I use this term very loosely - more to come on the dog). They trekked to Kentucky to get a new (HUGE) dog, and in the hotel room, he asked her to find the collar she bought. When she went to grab it, he had put the tag on it and that's how he popped the question.

Happy 2nd Birthday Miss Lilly!

This past weekend, we helped celebrate Miss Lilly's 2nd birthday. The kids had lots of fun playing on the play set, getting dirty and wet in the sand and water table, and eating lots of party goodies - while the adults enjoyed some cornhole and grown-up goodies :)

The weather cooperated for the most part, as the rain held off until we all went inside for cake and presents.

Lilly's mom, Jessica, is my designer-friend and thinks of every last detail with everything. I didn't get any shots of it, but she procured a second-hand plastic playhouse, and decorated it like their house: complete with stepping stones and a mulch bed surrounding the house, a flag, wind chime, and she also painted the playhouse shutters black to mimic the colors of their home AND planted flowers and bushes around it. This girl cracks me up!

Here is princess Ava (pre-meltdown): Smiley guy! For some reason, he is so happy and smiley at Keith and Jess' house:

I need to explain this picture. As soon as Jess handed our present to Lilly, she saw the bag and did this cute "happy dance". Notice the look on Jessica's face as though she has never seen it before?:
Here is our little prince after all the festivities. The party went through nap time - so by the time we were out of the neighborhood, he was out:
And Ava. She was SOOO mad when we left. She pouted the entire way home (before she crashed five minutes before we got home):

Happy (Late) Fourth of July!!

We had originally planned a trip to Memphis to visit family, but since I had to work Monday, we decided to reschedule. Instead, we took the short trip north to visit my parents and Sean's parents.

Friday evening, we got into town, and went out to dinner with Gram and Dzia. Afterward, the grandparents wanted to spoil their grand kids by taking a trip to the store to pick out a toy. Later that night, Sean took my dad to see "Star Trek". That was a little bittersweet, because Friday happened to by my brother's first birthday since passing away earlier this year, and I think my dad and brother were planning on seeing it together. It meant the world to my dad to go see it with Sean...

Saturday was a wash-out, and we were worried we wouldn't be able to see fireworks. We had planned to have Sean's parents and Drew come to my parents' for a cookout and then go see the fireworks together. As luck would have it, the rain stopped just in time for the fireworks.

It sprinkled a bit while we were waiting - as indicated by Ava's umbrella twirling. All in all, it was a good experience considering we kept the kids up about 2.5 hours past their bedtime!

Love this shot:

First Movie in a Theater

We kicked off the long holiday weekend by taking the kids to their first movie in a theater. Our local theater shows kids movies in the summer from Monday through Friday at 10:30 A.M. and it only costs $1 per ticket. We thought this was the perfect set up to try the theater thing for the first time with the kids.

As expected, Ava was an angel and totally mealed on the popcorn. Aidan , on the other hand, lasted about 45 minutes - but then had a complete meltdown. Sean and I had to take turns with him out in the lobby (we're not those parents that insist on staying in the theater despite the fact their child is screaming and disturbing others).

All in all, it wasn't that bad! Here's Ava shoveling popcorn in her pie-hole:
Both the kids pre-meltdown. Ava can't take her eyes off the screen:

This Bud's For You...

Sometimes, after a long day of laying around, eating, playing, and bathing, 12 ounces just won't do. On those days when he really needs it, Gobi reaches for an ice cold 24 ounce can of liquid gold.

35th Annual Family Reunion

Last Sunday we celebrated Sean's family's 35th annual family reunion. This family takes its reunions very seriously, complete with officers and an official newsletter. I admit it was kind of strange to me when I first started going, but I think the reason why we could celebrate the 35th reunion is due to all the uber-organization.

OK, now I know I just recently said how big Aidan looked, but look at THIS big man. I think this is the first picture where he is starting to look like a big boy: Ava with Pepaw and Uncle Drew:

Apparently, Ashley was taking too long, so Ross decided to help out:
