On Sunday we headed over to the zoo for the first time this summer. Again, it's been so blazing hot, that we didn't feel like going. The weather this weekend, however so super duper pleasant so we took advantage:
What a ham/turkey/cheese. I ask him to smile nice, and this is what he gives me. It really is cute, it's just that I got it by accident because he said something that he thought was really funny, and I happened to catch it at the right moment:
Sadly, this was the only walrus we saw - the real one was nowhere to be found:
We checked out the newest exhibit - Flights of Fancy. The kids thought it was cool to have beautiful birds flying around as we walked through:
Man, check out the striking blue color (I meant his eyes, not the birds):
Also new this year, was a dog agility show. The kids were extra interested because the dogs are similar to Finn. After watching the show, the kids demanded that we trained him to do some of these tricks:
Back flipping and catching the frisbee:
This dog was so cool. She stood on her back legs for nearly two minutes. She walked forward, backward, sideways, and even danced a bit:
And for good measure, balanced on the trainer's feet and did the splits:
The lion was actually out and close by - and awake!
Cutie girl:
Another new addition to the zoo is a baby girl elephant. So small and sweet:
While Daddy was getting our picnic set up, the kids played on the playground for a bit. Here, Aidan is pretending to be a rhino in his cage. Such an imagination :)

Sleepover Friends
Last weekend we had Paula and Samantha stay for a sleepover. They have to go back to Oklahoma next Saturday, so we were trying to squeeze in some more time with them too before they left.
Are you sensing a trend with us yet? Lately we've been having to deal with a lot of people that we love leaving us...
Paula and Samantha are such sweet, good girls who love spending time with Ava and Aidan (and their new cousin, Finn):
He's blurry because he's so stinkin' fast!
And this is what he looked like after an evening of roughhousing:
The girls always do a good job of spending equal time with Ava and Aidan. They played toys with them, read them books, watched a movie, made friendship bracelets, and helped them play games on their iPhones:
And helped with some acrobatics :)
