We rarely spend $30 on any kind of t-shirt for our kids, and it's an even rarer occasion that we would let our kids wear a shirt that expensive to school. $30 on a shirt for me or Sean isn't a big deal, but it is for kids might get to wear it 3-4 times before they grow out of it.
On Friday, we were going to see friends directly after school/work, so we wanted Aidan to look a little bit nicer than usual. We grabbed his super cool Superman shirt he got for Christmas and as I was putting it on him I asked Sean, "Are you sure we should send him in this $30 shirt?" He responded by saying, "If he doesn't wear it, then he won't get any use out of a $30 shirt". A very valid point, so we went ahead with it.
When I picked Aidan up that afternoon, his teacher said, "Um, we need to find a new shirt for him". He was sitting at a table with his back turned to me, and as he stood up to face me he was pulling at his shirt the way Clark Kent does when he's trying to change into Superman, all I could say was, "Oh...".
It looks as though he got in a fight with scissors and the scissors won:
