Just Married

What a weekend! Not only did we celebrate Pepaw's birthday and our nephew Quentin's baptism, but Ross and Ashley got married. It was an eventFULL few days, but lots of fun and got a lot of good visiting in.

Sean was a groomsman, I was Matron of Honor, Ava was the Flower Girl, and Aidan was the Ring Bearer. The kids did SOOO well during the ceremony - and of course did several cute and memorable things:
  • Halfway down the aisle, Ava ran out of petals to throw. She stopped in the aisle, shook her basket upside-down and put her hands up like, "What do I do?"
  • We were wondering what Aidan would do, but he marched up the aisle right behind Ava on the way up and the way back down the aisle.
  • Aidan stood with us for about 5 minutes (with the help of some Skittles bribery compliments of Daddy) and then just walked over and sat next to Pepaw in the front row.
  • On the way back down the aisle, Ava started to pick the petals up and put them back in her basket - just like we did during rehearsal...too cute!
Here's Little Miss Flower Girl getting her hair professionally done for the first time:

Since Ava, Aidan, Sean, and I were all in the wedding party, I wasn't able to snap any pics of the ceremony, but here's Mommy and Daddy all spiffed up at the reception (what a handsome guy):

Sadly, the only pic I snapped of Aidan. Hopefully someone else was able to capture him in his full pimped-out tux:

Family Pics, Take 2

Earlier this year, we attempted to get a family portrait taken by a professional photographer. Because of inclement weather, we had to reschedule 3 or 4 times and when we finally did get to have our session, the kids were NOT cooperative. We were able to capture some great individual shots of the kids, but no good family shots or shots of Aidan and Ava together.

I recently discovered a family friend started her own photography business a couple years ago, so I gave her a call and set something up. Let's just say this session went over much better because the kids were wonderfully agreeable and cooperative.

Our photographer gave us some sample images to tide us over until we get the CD in a couple days. Hope you all enjoy as much as we do!

A very worthy contender:

Getting closer (love this one...if you couldn't see my bra!!!!):
...and we have a winner! I guess I don't know for sure until I see all the pics, but it's going to be pretty tough to beat this one:

Happy Labor Day, Part 3

After the craziness of the two previous days, Labor Day was nice and laid back with a cookout with Gram and Dzia at home.

Before dinner, the kids read a story with Dzia:

Happy Labor Day, Part 2

Sorry for the delay in the posting - had some technical difficulties...

Last Sunday, we went boating with Memaw, Pepaw, and Uncle Drew. It was a bit chilly, so none of us got into the water - except for some playtime on the shore.

We stopped off at a little beach for lunch and just drove around the lake for a few hours. After time on the boat, we went over to some of Memaw and Pepaw's friends for dinner, drinks, and s'mores.

Look at those legs...like father, like son:
Lots 'o Kimbles:
I don't think there are many things cuter than a little boy in a baseball cap - so mischievous! I guess there is one thing cuter...a big sister lovin' on her little brother (while he's wearing a baseball cap):
Memaw and Pepaw's friends have a beautiful log-cabin home (complete with a stuffed wolf)hidden behind a cornfield and in front of a forest and river. Of course, the kids got spoiled beyond belief and were fawned over by all. We had lots yummy food and a really good time visiting - and hope we get to come back!

Happy Labor Day, Part 1

As it has been for most of our weekends this summer, we were jam-packed this past Labor Day weekend. Hey, we work hard all year, so we deserve a little kick back time with good friends, good food, and the obligatory beverage (doesn't sound much different from most weekends...)

Saturday, we went to David and Jenny's for a cookout and got the wonderful surprise of getting to spend some time with TJ - one of Sean's oldest friends. TJ has been stationed overseas, and is finally back home. We hadn't seen him in almost two years, so it was really nice to get caught up. We finished up the night with a campfire and yummy s'mores.

Somehow, Aidan managed to sneak in undetected, and Ian is trying really hard to evict him (and Ava looks very annoyed):
