A Day at the Zoo

We recently took our annual trip to the zoo. This year, my parents joined us - and we all had a blast!

Once again, we were blessed with beautiful weather, making the trip even more enjoyable. We got to the zoo right when it opened to be sure to avoid the typical huge crowd. This turned out to be a very good idea, as it seemed everyone and their brother was there.

It was an action-packed day: we caught the dolphin show, the kids got to pet an elephant, played on the playground, got to pick out souvenirs, and Ava got to ride a pony and the carousel. After spending most of the day in the zoo, we had a nice picnic lunch and called it a day.

We definitely enjoyed ourselves, I KNOW the kids did, and my parents said they had the best time getting to share that with Ava and Aidan (in fact, it might have even been their first time there).

I love this shot, because it looks like they are deep in conversation: My boys:
The kids waiting for a shark to pet (Ava promised she would do it, but chickened out. Aidan would have been all over it - if he had longer arms):
Aidan and my dad - LOVE it:
Our family (it is nearly impossible to snap a picture where everyone looks cute, so we won't be too picky!):
