The Kids Get Their Kicks

This evening, we ventured to our local Stride Rite to purchase some new kicks for the kids. I didn't think they needed them that badly, but they were having a great sale - Buy One Get One 50% Off - so we went to take a look.

I didn't think they needed shoes that badly...until they got fitted. Turns out, we were squeezing Ava's size-11 feet into size-9 shoes. SERIOUSLY?? 2 sizes?? Am I a bad mom, or is it just because she has been practically living in her Crocs most of the summer? We'll go with the latter...

Ava chose these super-cute-hot-pink-and-orange Superballs:

We must be REALLY bad parents, because we discovered that Aidan's size-6.5 XW (extra-wide) shoes were way too small for his SIZE-8 XW FEET!!!!! Again, really?

Kids typically grow one half-size every three months...but not our giant man-baby...he grew 1.5 sizes in four months. The sales-lady didn't believe us when we told her we bought his last pair of shoes roughly four months ago...until she asked Sean what size he wears. When she found out he wears a size-13, she said it is very possible that his feet really grew that quickly.

We chose this super-fast, super-lightweight pair (so he can shave time off his 100M dash time):
